Abstract

This work applies RUSLE methodology to determinate soil losses through erosion, on the river Cega high basin (Segovia). Very different information sources and specific country trips allowed to determinate different intervening factors, that cartographycaly expressed made possible to assign potential values of soil losses to different sites in the study area. As a whole, average soil losses obtained are 4 t/ha·year, a value that reflects a physical degradation by erosion perfectly acceptable. Nevertheless, losses are higher in sites with high slopes, over marly limestones and inefficient vegetal covers (>50 t/ha·year). Comparison of results between RUSLE and USLE methods shows, in general, lower participating factors values in the first of them.
