4. Pedofeatures

Depletion pedofeatures

 

 

They are characterised by a loss of certain components, different from textural ones, compared with the adjacent matrix. They are soluble components, like carbonates, gypsum and iron compounds and manganese.

The description order is usual and no classification system has been developed for these features.

The most common are depleted Fe / Mn areas and, much less frequently, calcite depleted areas.
